February 1st marks the beginning of African Heritage Month/ Black History Month. We are hosting the 2nd Annual Black Health Awareness Week (BHAW) to recognize the legacies of individuals of African descent.

Join us at our events this week to learn more about the amazing work of the Dalhousie and Halifax community.

Join us for an evening of creativity, conversation, and community as we come together to raise awareness about Black health in an empowering and artistic way. Mauya The Abstract invites you to a special Paint Night, where we'll explore the intersection of art and health. Light snacks and drinks provied!Ìý

What to expect:

  • Guided Painting Session: Unleash your inner artist with a guided painting session led by our talented instructors. NoÌýprior painting experience required – just bring your enthusiasm!
  • Community: Engage in meaningful conversations about Black health issues. Learn, share insights, and connect with like-minded individuals in a safe and supportive space.
  • Mocktail Mixer: Enjoy a selection of refreshing mocktails crafted specially for the evening.
  • All Painting Supplies Included: We provide everything you need to create your masterpiece – canvases, paints, brushes, and aprons. Just bring your artistic spirit!

This event is not just about painting; it's an opportunity to contribute to a dialogue about Black health and wellness while expressing yourself through art. Let's paint a brighter, healthier future together!

Black Health & Wellness Resource FairÌý | Friday, February 9 | LMP Atrium, 11:00am - 2:00pm

Join pilipiliÂþ»­ and Community Resources such as the Nova Scotia Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Dalhousie Black Student Advising Center, the Health Association of African Canadians (HAAC) and more.

The idea of a Black Health and Wellness Resource Fair was born out of our goals and aims for the week to create a space for Black Dalhousie students to get familiar with people and resources that are health-focused and Black-centered.

Food and drinks provided by Mary's African Cuisine and campus catering!
